Radha Mohan Singh innaugrates agri-fair in Manipur’s Iroishemba village

Iroishemba (Manipur) [India], Nov.10 :The Central Agriculture University, Iroishemba, organised a three-day regional agri-fair from November 10 till 13, which is being attended by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh.

Speaking to ANI, Professor Premjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of the Central Agricultural University, said the fair is being held under the theme "importance of organic farming and integrated farming System in Second Green Revolution." The inaugural function is being attended by Padma Bhusan Dr.

R B Singh who is also the CAU Imphal chancellor. During the fair, Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated an auditorium and PG Boys' Hostel of the university and also launch one lakh fruit crop plantation under which five saplings are distributed to 20,000 houses in the remote areas of the state.

Altogether 54 exhibition stalls are being opened during the fair, innovative farmers showcasing their products like flowers, vegetable, fruits.

During the function, the CUR2 crop which can be harvested within a short duration of 100 days is also be released.

A young scientist award carrying a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and a gold medal is also be given out. The vice chancellor said that the fair is attended by a large number of farmers, including 70 farmers from outside the state.
