Rashford’s extra-time goal sends Man Utd into Europa League semis

Manchester [UK], Apr 21 : Manchester United sailed into the Europa League semifinals courtesy Marcus Rashford's dramatic extra-time goal which helped them to beat Anderlecht 2-1 and seal a 3-2 aggregate victory in the second leg of the quarter finals played at the Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Anderlecht were impressive throughout the match but United were the more forceful side as the game wore on and were good value for the win in the end.

Rashford followed up his heroics which he displayed in the Premier League win over Chelsea with a well-taken strike early in the second period of extra time to give the Reds a 2-1 win and a place in the last four.

United took the lead when Henrikh Mkhitaryan drilled in a low finish in the 10th minute but Sofiane Hanni leveled the score for Anderlecht after 32 minutes.

The Jose Mourinho side dominated in the second half, but Jesse Lingard, Rashford, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all squandered chances to score as the tie moved into extra time, reports goal.com.

United were facing the prospect of a penalty shootout but Rashford, the 19-year-old forward, made the decisive contribution after 107 minutes to seal the win for his team.

United switch their focus back to the Premier League as they travel to Burnley on Sunday before travelling to Manchester City on April 27.
