Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam gives Rs 1 cr to Himachal CM’s Relief Fund

Shimla, Jan 16 : The public sector power generator Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), a company that owns and operates India's largest hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday contributed Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was presented a cheque of Rs 1 crore by SJVN Chairman-cum-Chief Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma here.

The Chief Minister said the funds would go a long way in helping the poorest of poor to meet their medical expenses.

The employees of boards and corporations should also voluntarily donate towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, he added.

Sharma informed the Chief Minister that against the target of generating 8,700 million units, the SJVN has generated 9,045 million units for the year 2016-17.

In this fiscal, it has generated more than 8,660 million units till date.

He said the revenue from operation of the plant was Rs 2,468.66 crore and the net profit after tax was Rs 1,544.14 crore in 2016-17.

The SJVN is a joint venture of the government of India and the Himachal Pradesh government.
