SC to hear criminal defamation case against Kejriwal

New Delhi [India], Nov. 16 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will hear the criminal defamation case filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

A plea has been filed by Congress leader Kapil Sibal's son Amit Sibal against a Delhi High Court order granting exemption from personal appearance to Kejriwal and others in a defamation case.

Besides Kejriwal and Sisodia, Sibal had also named former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members Prashant Bhushan and Shazia Ilmi as accused in the case.

Sibal had alleged that the accused had said he had taken advantage of his father's position to represent a telecom company in the court cases.

According to reports, Kejirwal had been targeting Sibal over the Vodafone tax case ever since Sibal took the charge of law ministry in May this year.
