Seven people presumed dead in Nepal’s helicopter crash

Kathmandu, Aug 8 : The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has said that all seven people, including a new-born, on board the Fishtail Air helicopter that crashed today at Bhatine Danda in Nuwakot are presumed dead.

The helicopter, which took off from Gorkha area, was airlifting the new-born for a treatment in Kathmandu with her mother.

The helicopter was piloted by Captain Ranjan Limbu. Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal spokesperson Devendra KC said that a Nepal Army team and other rescue officials have been deployed at the crash site.

"Bad weather has been preventing the search operation. A Nepal Army helicopter will drop rescue officials at the site," the Kathmandu Post quoted Devendra as saying.

Reports suggest that the crash site is 5,500ft above the sea level. The 9N-AKA chopper made the last contact with air traffic control tower at 1:00 p.m. local time..
