Shahabuddin jeopardising his bail by being around wanted people, says NCP

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Sept. 15 : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon on Thursday advised former RJD parliamentarian Mohammad Shahabuddin to be careful after a video went viral in which he was seen standing next to wanted sharpshooter Mohammad Kaif after his release on bail from the Bhagalpur Jail recently.

Memon told ANI, "I think, Shahabuddin should have been advised to be careful once he gets out on bail.

He should not carry people who are notorious around him, as this would only create some circumstances for cancellation of his bail." "This would mean that it is misuse of his bail, and he should be cautious to see that the court does not believe that enlargement on bail of such a person is hazardous to the safety and law and order of the society.

Therefore, I think, he has to be little careful, otherwise the court might have to reverse its orders," he added.

On Wednesday, Kaif had rubbished all accusations against him and said that he was not involved in the murder of journalist Rajdev Rajan.

Kaif told ANI, "I would like to tell you that I am a cricketer. I have bagged the maximum number of trophies in whole of north Bihar. I had close relations with Rajdev. These accusations hurt me. I can only shed tears over this. All the allegations are false and bogus." Kaif rubbished allegations when asked that the police surveillance and his Call Details Record (CDR) disclosed that he was near the murder spot.

Clarifying his stand on the photo controversy with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, Tej Pratap Yadav, Kaif said the Bihar Health Minister is his role model, adding that he looks up to him as an inspiration and a youth icon.

"Even I am interested in politics. After my ligament broke, I retired from cricket and became a coach and then thought of making a career in politics, this photograph must be of 2014-15.

What is wrong in this? I don't even know how to operate Facebook," he said. A video has gone viral in which Kaif can be seen standing right next to Shahabuddin and cheering him as he spoke to the media after being released on Saturday after spending 11 years in prison.

Kaif is one of the accused in the murder of Hindustan daily's Siwan bureau chief Rajdev Ranjan..
