Should BJP win in UP, Muslim candidates will get tickets: Naqvi

New Delhi [India], Feb. 27 : Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that the BJP is a party that takes all communities and people of various religious persuasion along with it, adding that while it is not looking at religion-based distribution of tickets, it 'would have been better' to give Muslims candidates tickets to contest the polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking to the media after chairing the 75th meeting of the Central Waqf Council here today, Naqvi said this issue of not enough Muslim candidates being given tickets would be addressed with interest by the BJP, should it win the assembly elections.

"The people of UP want a corruption-free government which is committed to welfare and development of the state," Naqvi added.

Commenting on BJP's competitors in the UP Assembly Polls, Naqvi alleged that an issue is being made out of nothing, simply because 'there is no issue that can be brought up currently.' The council meeting discussed the ongoing fiasco of Waqf 'mafias' who have seized property illegally in various states.

To this, Naqvi assured that this has been curbed and appropriate legal action will be taken against miscreants, irrespective of any 'political connection' they may have.
