Student of Chennais Amirta makes the city proud winning bronze medal in National Level Culinary Art Competition

New Delhi [India], Mar 28 (ANI-NewsVoir): E. Elumalai, BSc., Student (final year, Perambur Branch, Chennai) of Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management, brought laurels to the city winning bronze medal in the Culinary Art India 2017 competition.

The 12th edition of the national level competition was part of Aahar International Fair held at Pragathi Maidan, New Delhi from 6th to 11th March 2017.

It was organized by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) in association with Indian Culinary Forum (ICF).

Over 400 candidates from all over India participated in the event and performed live before general public.

Elumalai was among 10 students from Chennais Amirta who contended with senior and apprentice chefs from all over India.

E. Elumalai was the youngest among the contenders of the open-to-all-age competition and got bronze medal for his artistic live carving `Fruit Garden' completed in 2 hrs 10 minutes.

R. Murugan, V. Vignesh and P. Vanaraja from OMR branch won merit awards. Chef Mr. Davinder Kumar, President, ICF, inaugurated the event. Chef Willment Leong, Chairman of World Chef without Borders, Founder-Chairman, Thailand Culinary Academy and Vice President of Thailand Chef Association, presided the Jury Chair empanelled with Judges from World Association of Chefs' Societies (WACS).

Vivek Saggar, Joint General Secretary, ICF, was the key organizer. "Our students always stand high winning in the skill competitions they participate and make our institution proud.

Our talented staffs are asset to our college who put in their heart and soul into molding enthusiastic hoteliers to the industry.
