The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ hits No. 1 spot

Washington D.C. [USA], Dec. 29 : The Weekend closes the year in style, as his 2016 huge hit 'Starboy,' which has already broken a number of records that features Daft Punk, finally clinched the #1 slot on Billboard's Hot 100 after spending eight nonconsecutive weeks at #2.

Adding to it, this marks the duo Daft Punk's very first #1 song on the chart. For The Weeknd, this is his third Number 1 single after the success of the songs 'Can't Feel My Face' and 'The Hills' in 2015.

By ascending to No. 1 in its 14th week, 'Starboy' completes the longest trip to the top of the Hot 100 since Sia's 'Cheap Thrills,' featuring Sean Paul, reached No.

1 in its 23rd week. The song narrowly edged out Rae Sremmurd's mannequin-challenge anthem 'Black Beatles,' which continues to be a hitmaker.

'Starboy' is the title track and lead single of the singer's recent album titled Starboy as well, the album had also reached the top post on Billboard 200 and has been streamed on Spotify with more than 400 million times in one week, shattering previous records.
