Trump swears-in as 45th President of the United States

Washington [USA], Jan. 20 : Donald J. Trump swore in on Friday as the 45th President of the United States. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered him the oath as his wife Melania held the Bible and Trump repeated the words, " I Donald John Trump do solemnly swear, that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States and will to the best of my ability preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Before Trump, Mike Pence was sworn in as the new Vice-President of the United States.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, in his first address as President from the Capitol Hill, Trump said, "We the citizens of America are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people.

Together we will determine the course of America and all of the world for many many years to come." "Today we are not merely transferring power from one party to another..but we are transferring power from Washington DC and giving it back to you, the people," he added. "January 20th, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers once again. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer. Everyone is listening to you now." Before the inauguration, Trump went to the White House to meet with ex-president Barack Obama.

The ceremony was also attended by his presidential race rival Hillary Clinton who said, "I'm here today to honor our democracy (and) its enduring values.

I will never stop believing in our country (and) its future. #Inauguration.".
