Tse-Tse ceremony organised to revive traditional Losar practices in Leh

Leh (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Jan. 2 : In their endeavours to revive the traditional customs and practices of Losar celebration, Ladakh Buddhist Association with the support of Jammu and Kashmir Culture Academy organized Tse-Tse (New Year's Moon watching ceremony) as part of Losar celebration at Leh's Chowkhang Vihara.

With an aim to revive the fading practice of Losar celebration and to inherent the traditional customs to the younger generation, the festival was organised yesterday.

The practices of Tse-Tse ceremony initiated by the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) was headed by President Tsewang Thinles, Youth wing President Rinchen Namgyal, Women wing Executive members.

LAHDC Executive Councilor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam President Dr.Abdul Qayoom and Christian Association President Dechen Chamga were also present during the celebration.

The celebration was started with lighting of lamp offering "Chotmey" by LBA president Tsewang Thinles amid Lharna (traditional Musical offering), followed by Tse-Tse offering ceremony.

While extending his Losar greetings to people LBA, president in his short message speech emphasized the need of maintaining and following the Buddhist culture avoiding intoxicative substances besides having mannerism and educated youth to develop Ladakh.

He also prayed for the longevity of elders and prevailing, communal harmony, peace, prosperity, unity and development among the Ladakhi society with the commencement of Losar.
