New Delhi, Aug. 21 : Endorsing the Center's decision to appoint Urjit Patel as the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said the former will fulfill the government's objectives.
"I think it is a perfect choice, very good choice the Government of India has made. The objective the government has, as well as the credentials and credibility which the new governor has, I think is a perfect match.
India's business community and the global community will welcome the decision. I am sure this will translate into lot of good things for India going forward," BJP leader Zafar Islam told ANI.
Patel, who is currently serving as the Deputy RBI Governor, will succeed Raghuram Rajan after his term comes to an end on September 3.
