Zayn Malik slammed on Twitter for his collaboration with M.I.A

London [England], Sept. 9 : Zayn Malik was recently slammed by his fans on social media after the singer collaborated with the controversial artist M.I.A for a track 'Freedun' that appeared to use a slang phrase for rape.

After the song was dropped, few listeners pointed out the lyrics which said "I rape that button just to play this song," reports the Mirrior.

One fan took his rage to Twitter and posted, "m.i.a used the word rape and I'm disgusted zayn agreed to collaborate on that song..it's trash anyway. Get him out!" Another tweeted, "@zaynmalik are you MIA because of drama going around or are you just busy making us some more music?" However, following the social media stir, M.I.A clearly stated the word is "rate" and also published the full lyric-sheet online.

The 41-year-old songstress, who earlier came under fire for sticking her middle finger up while performing on stage with 'Madonna,' said the collaboration "just kinda happened" after they communicated over WhatsApp.
