#AIFW17: Anupamaa brings ‘The Sacred Forest’ to life

New Delhi [India], Mar. 17 : Romancing with intense florals, fashion designer Anupama Dayal brought to life the sacred forest of Mangur village, in her collection which was showcased on the second day of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2017.

"I saw Mangur Bani a year back and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. And since then I have been spending a lot of time close to it. I also like to imagine the life of a forest dweller; how little we really need in these days of consumerism.

That's why I like to show that one item can be worn in ten ways," Anupama told media here, post the event.

Adding, "The fabrics are really light. A lot of Chanderi, and crinkling for sure so that there is no ironing needed." Small elements like pom poms, self-crafted butterfly clips and hangings complimented the layers of skirts, dresses and tunics.

Accessories made out of 'gota' made a statement of their own in silver, golden and bronze. "The jewellery that we use is always made in-house catering to the women's empowerment initiative that we have in our village," said the designer.

The four-day fashion extravaganza that ends on March 18, is being held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.
