BJP forming govt. in Goa is ‘heart burn’: Cong

New Delhi [India], Mar. 15 : Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary on Wednesday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over government formation in Goa despite not having majority and said this is heart burn as the people voted for the grand old party in the coastal state.

"We have a great working democracy. There is heart burn. My people will feel let down. The MLAs are frustrated. The people of Goa are upset because they have actually voted for the Congress. I don't know what the ground facts are and there was a slip between the cup and lip. So, this kind of heart burn is bound to happen," Chaudhary told ANI. "But what happened at the ground level, this question only Digvijaya Singh can answer. Accountability will be called for and should be given," she added. Further attacking the BJP, she said, "The BJP is trying to force Mr Parrikar down the throat and at some point the people will stand up and answer them." The Congress, which won 17 seats in the Goa Assembly polls, has accused the BJP of using "money power" to form the government.

In the 40-member Goa Assembly, the BJP won only 13 seats but managed to form the government following support from the other parties.

Parrikar has claimed the support of 13 MLAs of the BJP, three MLAs of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), three MLAs of Goa Forward Party (GFP) and two independent MLAs, thus having a total of 21 MLAs in the 40-member Goa Assembly.
