Chhattisgarh Govt. appoints new IG in Bastar, Bilaspur range

Chhattisgarh [India], Apr. 1 : Chhattisgarh Government on Saturday appointed Vivekanand Sinha as the new Inspector General (IG) of Bastar District.

Sinha has replaced Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dantewada district, Sunder Raj, who has been given additional charge of Bastar district over the issue of women assault against former IG S.P.

Kalluri. Bastar is a naxal affected area with maximum number of Maoists attacks all over the region. In the recent past thirty-three Naxalites who surrendered before the Inspector-General (IG) and Superintendent of Police (SP), twenty-nine are males and 4 females.

Having their centre in Darbha and Mardoom regions, these naxalites were working under Commander Vilaash.

The surrendered naxalites also include the three on whom prize money of Rs. 3 lakh had been announced. In the other update, the two naxalites arrested in Bijapur were already booked in cases of murder and attempt to murder.

They were arrested from the jungles of Chareli. Meanwhile P.S. Gautam has been appointed as new IG of Bilaspur range who is replacing Sinha..
