New Delhi [India], June 1 : It seems like CNN does not want to take chances with Kathy Griffin after the controversial beheading video.

Griffin, who has been a long-time comedian and co-hosted CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast since 2007, will now no longer be hosting the show as the channel has terminated their agreement with the host, after her beheading video went viral and garnered angry responses from everywhere.

CNN's communications Twitter handle shared the news and wrote, "CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year's Eve program." > She co-hosted the show with anchor Anderson Cooper.

For the unversed, the comedian, on her Twitter handle uploaded a clip, which sees a tough-faced Griffin gazing forward as she lifts up the blood-splattered, beheaded Trump dummy, by its trademark hair.

However, after facing a lot of backlash Griffin took to Twitter once again with an emotional apology and plea for the public's forgiveness.

In the video, she said, "I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn't funny. I've made a lot of mistakes in my career. I will continue. I ask your forgiveness." The video has since been removed from her Twitter account. President Donald Trump also reacted to the controversy and said, "Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself.
