Extensive public participation in First Digi Dhan Mela in Srinagar

Srinagar [India], Feb.8, : The first Digi Dhan Mela, a Government of India initiative aimed at boosting digitally enabled transformation in the country following demonetization was held at Indoor Stadium Srinagar.

The Mela was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Baseer Khan, who said, "Currently, the main emphasis in country is for cashless economy.

One can do transactions easily all over the world for business and personal use. The main aim is to educate people about account opening and to inherit habit of cashless economy." Khan also praised the administration for inviting all the banks in the Mela to make people aware and understand about cashless economy.

Calling this event a march towards cashless economy with multiple benefits to its users, the Divisional Commissioner further asked people from all walks of life to step in at the venue for Aadhar or Ration Card corrections and various training being offered for cashless transfers.

At the event, huge public participation was seen thronging different stalls put up by various banks, telecom companies, Aadhar and different departments of the State Government to gather first hand information about various Digital Schemes of the Government of India.

Participants hailed this step taken by State Government and also expressed hope that in the coming days more programmes on cashless society will be held in different parts of the Kashmir Valley, as it was first such event in Kashmir since demonetization.
