New Delhi, Jan 23 : Government Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are planning to increase spending on Cloud, cybersecurity and analytics in 2018, market research firm Gartner said on Tuesday.
Sixteen per cent CIOs said they will increase spending on Business Intelligence (BI) and there will be an increased spending of 16 per cent on analytics and six per cent on data management, according to Gartner's "2018 CIO Agenda Survey".
"To be successful, public sector CIOs need to focus on expanding their data and analytics capabilities and creating a data-centric culture, by increasing the availability of open data and APIs for internal use and public consumption," Rick Howard, Vice President, Research at Gartner, said in a statement.
The survey included the view of 3,160 CIO respondents from 98 countries and across major industries, including 461 government CIOs.
Cloud solutions, cybersecurity and analytics are the top technologies targeted for additional spending by public sector CIOs while data centre infrastructure is the most commonly targeted for cost savings, the survey added.
While only five per cent of government CIOs considered security and risk as crucial to achieving the organisation's mission, 17 per cent expect to boost spending on cybersecurity.
Digital transformation is the top-ranked business priority among government CIOs overall, followed by security and governance.
