Inder Jit Singh takes charge as Coal Secretary

New Delhi, June 14 : Newly-appointed Coal Secretary Inder Jit Singh took charge of his post on Thursday, an official statement said.

A Coal Ministry release said that Singh, a 1985 batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, assumed charge here in the presence of senior officials of the ministry.

The post had fallen vacant after the retirement of Susheel Kumar on April 30 this year after which the government had given it as an additional charge to Mines Secretary Anil Mukim.



Singh was previously posted as Secretary, Coordination in the Cabinet Secretariat.

Earlier this week, Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal said here that the government will start a new round of coal block auctions and that commercial mining would also get underway.
