India successfully test fires its interceptor missile

New Delhi [India], Feb. 11 : India on Saturday successfully tests fired its interceptor missile off the Bay of Bengal, wherein an incoming ballistic missile target was intercepted by an exo-atmospheric interceptor missile.

The missile the test fired at around 7.45 a.m. from Abdul Kalam Island (Wheeler Island) of ITR. With this commendable achievement, India has crossed a significant milestone in building its overall capability towards enhanced security against incoming ballistic missile threats.

With this Indian has also entered an exclusive club of four nations with developing capabilities to secure its skies and cities against hostile threats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar lauded the efforts of the DRDO for this significant achievement.
