Indian Embassy organises Diaspora event in Berlin

Berlin [Germany], Feb.27 : The Embassy of India, Berlin organized second Diaspora event over the weekend at the embassy in which several Indian associations and prominent members of Diaspora, besides representatives of 16 student associations participated.

Ambassador Gurjit Singh and senior officers of the embassy and consul generals of Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich also participated.

The objectives of the meeting were to bring Indian associations representing various states of India in Germany under one umbrella to discuss and deliberate on common issues and evolve a suitable mechanism to progress further.

Numerous initiatives undertaken by the Embassy of India were highlighted in the conference along with various programmes of MEA, particularly by the Overseas India Division.

Important initiatives undertaken by the Embassy such as launching of Indian Professional Forum (IPF) to leverage the talents of Indian professionals and to engage them in promoting start ups, Make In India Mittelstand (MIIM) programme to bring German companies to invest in India and launching of Indian Students Germany (ISG) portal were underscored in the seminar in order to promote awareness.

Ambassador of India launched a new e-book chronicling the various activities undertaken by Embassy to strengthen the relationship between India and Germany.

For every two months, on the various activities undertaken by the Embassy, this e-book would be uploaded in the Embassy website.

The conference also had guest lecture on contributions of Indians in Germany by Dr. Joachim Oestarheld, a prominent Researcher and Humboldt scholar. Dr. V. S. Saravanan, University of Bonn underlined about his proposed research study on Indian Diaspora in Germany to the gathering.

Indian National Day Celebration Committee, a prominent association in Berlin outlined various events undertaken by them in cooperation with the Embassy.

The gathering at the conference also witnessed two Indian classical dance programmes exhibited by Ms.

Elina Mullick (Kathak) and Ms. Janani Suresh (Bharatanatyam)..
