Indian Embassy’s Cha com Letras brings together Brazilian intellectual community

Brasilia [Brazil], Feb. 11 : The Embassy of India in Brasilia organized the the 13th edition of Cha com Letras on Friday with poets of the diplomatic community, literature lovers and artists taking part in the event.

The participants included Jose Carlos Vieira, composer and editor of Correio Braziliense newspaper; Itay Tagner, Israeli poet and diplomat; Luciana Barreto, literary critic and journalist; Fernando Dusi Rocha, essayist; Janara Soares, essayist; Maxuny Alves, artist and literary critic; and Roberto Medina, playwright and literary critic.

Each reader shared poems on a variety of topics, such as Brasilia, love, pain, among others. Israeli poems, the Northeastern perspective on poetry and the challenges and motivations that writers face when starting a new poem were also shared with the public.

In addition to the readings, guests tasted Indian tea and cuisine. Cha com Letras is a monthly literary event organized by the Embassy of India moderated by Abhay Kumar, poet and Minister at the Indian Embassy.

In its past editions over 50 Brazilian poets, writers, novelists have taken part in it including Nicholas Behr, Antonio Miranda, Anderson Braga Horta, Ary Quintella, Edmilson Caminha, Makarand Paranjape, Francisco Alvim, Joao Almino, Kori Bolivia among others.
