Intruder arrested at White House

Washington D. C. [U.S.A.], Mar. 11 : An intruder climbed a White House fence on Friday and gained access to the complex's south grounds before being arrested.

According to a Fox News report, the incident occurred at about 11:38 p.m. while President Donald Trump was at the White House. The Secret Service on Saturday said the unidentified individual was carrying a backpack and was arrested near the White House residence without further incident.

No hazardous materials were found during a search of the backpack, the officials added. The Secret Service also said a search of the south and north grounds of the White House complex found "nothing of concern to security operations." Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly was briefed on the incident.

However, the agency didn't provide an update on the individual's status. Standard practice is to hand intruders over to the local police department..
