Kejriwal for separate funds for market development in next Budget

New Delhi, Dec 21 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday advocated separate funds in the 2018-19 budget for infrastructural development in the capital's market areas of the capital.

"The top priority of my government is to encourage and promote trade and industry in Delhi as these provide employment and contribute to the government exchequer for development," the Chief Minister said while addressing the Delhi GST Conclave here.

He urged Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who holds the finance portfolio, to ensure separate funds in the next fiscal's Budget for repair and laying of roads, construction of public toilets, availability of drinking water, proper parking and street lights in market areas.

He said the problems arising out of Goods and Services Tax implementation have to be attended to and redressed amicably.

"We have formulated GST market support committees of traders and are soliciting their suggestions for taking up at appropriate forums to argue for their cause and seek solutions thereof," the Chief Minister said.

Sisodia stressed the need for the abolition of the highest 28 per cent tax slab under the GST regime.

"Sticking to this tax slab will encourage tax evasion, which will further cause great loss to the exchequer."
