Kejriwal’s action against Sandeep Kumar distinguishes him from Congress, BJP: AAP

Chennai [India], Sept. 6 : Coming out in defence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to sack former women and child welfare minister Sandeep Kumar over the 'sex CD' row, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Somnath Bharti on Tuesday said the party convenor's move distinguished him from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Bharti told ANI that this incident of Sandeep Kumar has disappointed everybody, not only Anna Hazare. "Anna Hazare is a man of heart. Like everybody else, he is disappointed, but we have no yardstick using which we can know in advance how the person will be.

Unlike other political parties, the Aam Aadmi Party is of the view that the moment a wrong is caught, we have to take an action," he added.

Bharti said neither the Congress nor the BJP took action against its ministers when required. "Show me one political party in the nation, whether it be Congress Party.what they did for Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Everybody knows what he had done in return of a High Court judge seat.what he had done with a lady. Whether it be the BJP.Nihal Chand was a minister," he added. Bharti said that Kejriwal acted after he was told of the wrong which Sandeep Kumar, which distinguished him and made him taller than ever.

"He (Arvind Kejriwal) not only removed him from the minister-ship. His primary membership from the party was also gone. So what more can you do? I think all these facts need to be put correctly before Anna ji for him to appreciate our steps," he added.

Visibly upset with the present controversies surrounding the AAP, Hazare earlier today said that he had high expectations from Kejriwal with whom he has worked in the past.

Hazare said that he had expressed his apprehensions at the time of formation of the AAP with regard to the selection of candidates for the party whose main agenda was to fight anti-social elements.

The social activist also pointed out that Kejriwal did not do a proper scrutiny before inducting people in his party.

Kejriwal had last week sacked Sandeep Kumar from his Cabinet after the sex CD row. Earlier, AAP's former Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur was sacked post his allegations against the party of seeking a bribe for election tickets.

In further embarrassment for the AAP, Bijwasan MLA Colonel Devinder Sehrawat claimed he has received "disturbing reports" of women being "exploited" in Punjab with promises of election tickets from the party.
