Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 12 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested an enforcement officer from Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), regional office in Kolkata for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.
20,000. A case has been registered against the enforcement officer, alleging that he had demanded for Rs. One lakh because the complainant was not complying with provisions of Provident Fund Act. It was further alleged that the accused scaled down his demand to Rs. 20,000 as the complainant expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount and directed the complainant to pay him the said gratification.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed. Searches have been conducted at the office and residential premises of the enforcement officer. Further investigations on..
