Lucknow: UP CM flags off first batch of Haj pilgrims

Lucknow, Aug 10 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav this morning flagged off the flight of first batch of devotees from Haj House in Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and State Haj Committee chairman Azam Khan had earlier issued directives to ensure all facilities to the devotees.

Nearly 600 devotees are there in the first batch of the Haj pilgrims. "Our best wishes to all the Haj pilgrims. The government will provide them with every facility. We have requested the Haj pilgrims to pray for the country too," said Akhilesh Yadav. Meanwhile, Azam Khan ensured that all the facilities have been provided to the Haj pilgrims. The Central Haj Commiteee had earlier released guidelines for Haj pilgrims and allowed baggage. According to these guidelines, the committee decided to standardize the baggage as anomalous and clumsy baggage is difficult to carry.

More than 1, 10, 000 Haj pilgrims from all across India will go to Makkah in Saudi Arabia through Haj Committee of India to perform the annual ritual which will fall this year in September.
