New Delhi [India], Nov. 26 : Lashing out at Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati for her 'unrestrained' remarks, BJP spokesperson Shrikant Sharma on Saturday said she is opposing demonetisation just because she is frustrated and did not get enough time to turn her black money into white.
"You are calling demonetisation as a measure taken in precocity because you didn't get time to convert your black money, which you accumulated through scams and selling party tickets into white.
Demonetisation is not against a person or a political party, it is against those who finance terrorism and indulge in counterfeiting of currency and other miscreants and black money hoarders," he said in a press conference.
Refuting Mayawati's allegations that the Centre has not fulfilled its promises of development made during the elections, Sharma said, "There are upcoming polls in Uttar Pradesh and Mayawatiji can see clearly that she will lose in the elections so she is giving such unrestrained statements." "You (Mayawati) were involved in several scams like the NHRM, because you had anti-people policies," he said.
He added that the Samajwadi Party and the BSP have a coalition otherwise the truth behind the NHRM scam would have been in front of the public.
"You (Mayawati) never protested against the Akhilesh government, you did not protest against the Bulandshehar rape case.
Both of you, (BSP) and SP, see Muslim voters as bonded labours. You don't work for their development but when you need votes, you talk about their welfare," said Sharma.
Earlier today, Mayawati lashed out at the centre for the demonetisation drive saying it has brought nothing but economic emergency, as people are suffering due to it.
She accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of blackmailing people by busting into tears on several occasions.
Asserting that the Prime Minister is "scared" of addressing opposition in either of the Houses over the demonetisation issue, she said, "If riots and scuffles break out due to the prevailing condition, then only the Prime Minister will be responsible for that." The BSP chief said the BJP faces danger from the BSP only in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls and not from the Samajwadi Party or the Congress, who are surviving on oxygen.
