Mehbooba hails move to end baggage identification at J (and) K’s airports

Srinagar, May 31 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday welcomed the decision of the Civil Aviation Ministry to end the baggage identification procedure at airports in the state.

"Thankful to @sureshpprabhu ji.

This decision will go a long way in lessening the inconvenience and enhancing the travel experience. Would also request him to look into airline ticket pricing to J (and) K to ease the burden for budget travellers," Mehbooba wrote on Twitter.

Announcing the decision to end the mandatory baggage identification at Srinagar, Leh and Jammu airports, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu earlier said: "Furthering our mission of enhancing citizen convenience, we have done away with mandatory baggage identification by passengers at Jammu, Srinagar and Leh airports.

"We remain committed to making your journey delightful and hassle-free."

The decision to have baggage identified by passengers flying out of the state was taken as a precaution to ensure that no unidentified baggage gets into the aircraft that could pose a danger to the passengers during flight.
