National Award Winning NGO Samarthanam Trust opens Delhi Center

New Delhi [India], Dec. 16 : National Award Winning NGO, Samarthanam Trust, for the Disabled opens Samarthanam Delhi Center with the support of Citi Foundation to cater to people with disabilities and provide them with suitable opportunities across various sectors.

Since its inception in 1997, the Bangalore based trust is working towards providing opportunities for the deserving, young and talented children with disability of any form, or from marginalized economic background.

The dignitaries present on the occasion were Mr.Shrikant Sinha, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation, Debasis Ghosh, Citi India Public Affairs Officer and Mr.Mahantesh.G.K, Founder Managing Trustee, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled.

Mahantesh G.K, ?Founder Managing Trustee at Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in his welcome address said "Samarthanam is extremely excited to partner with Citi to spread our presence pan India.

Young people with disabilities face the biggest hurdles when they transition to higher education." "It is at this stage that we will provide all possible support whether for admissions, financial support, scribes, translations, accommodation to youth with disabilities so their education is uninterrupted and they become truly empowered.

Our vocational training center in Delhi will complement this programme and young disabled people will be provided equal opportunities and platforms," he added.

Citi India Public Affairs Officer, Debasis Ghosh said, "Through the 2016 IIGP, which is well aligned with the Government of India's important 'Skill India' mission, we are humbled to be a part of Samarthanam and the new Delhi Center, empowering youth from low income families to be a part of India's growth story." Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), the cricketing arm of Samarthanam has been organizing cricket for the visually impaired since 2010.
