Nepal PM Dahal’s swearing in today

Kathmandu, Aug. 4 : Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Chairperson (CPN-MC) Pushpa Kamal Dahal will today be sworn into office as the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal, a day after he was elected for the top post.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Dahal amid a special function at Sheetal Niwas, reports the Kathmandu Post.

Dahal was elected after he secured 363 votes during the election for the post of Prime Minister held at Legislature-Parliament on Wednesday, while 210 votes were cast against him.

He was supported by Nepali Congress, Sanghiya Gathabandhan, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and other fringe parties during the election.

Dahal also known as Prachanda, led a guerrilla war against the government in the past and later served as prime minister of Nepal from 2008 to 2009.
