Not in favour of war, main motive is to eliminate terrorism: Kharge

New Delhi [India], Oct. 6 : Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Thursday said India is not in favour of war, adding the country's main objective is to eliminate terrorism.

The Congress leader said every country, which wants to establish peace in the region, is keen to act together against the menace of terrorism.

"It is a known fact that there are terror camps operating in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), that is why our armed forces conducted the terror strike in the region and search will be conducted on finding other camps as well," he said.

"India has the main objective of eliminating terrorism and not to wage a war against any other country.

For the establishment of peace, especially in the Asian region, every country has collectively called for eliminating terrorism.

All the SAARC members have shared this sentiment that all countries should be together to eradicate terrorism but Pakistan is not giving attention to it and this itself is a big trouble," he added.

Speaking on the recent terror attack in Handwara on Thursday, Kharge said, "Now, Pakistan is repeatedly attacking like this and our forces are also retaliating accordingly.

The military is doing its job and have used the intelligence inputs to kill the terrorists. They are giving prompt replies to these attacks." The Handwara attack comes days after terrorists attacked a Bolder Security Force (BSF) and adjoining camps in Baramulla district, where one BSF soldier was killed in the attack.

The attack also comes after the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes and destroyed seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), last week.

Last month, the terrorists had attacked the army brigade headquarters at Uri, killing 19 soldiers..
