Over 62k poor families in Chhattisgarh get food, ration

Raipur, March 30 : Amid the 21-day nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus scare, as many as 62,172 poor families in urban and rural areas of Chhattisgarh are getting free food and ration, official sources said on Monday.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed officials to make sure no one goes hungry in the state due to the lockdown and to be empathic to the needy.

On his appeal, many non-governmental organisations have come forward to provide succour to the needy, in cooperation with the district officials concerned.

A government spokesperson said that in state capital Raipur, arrangements had been made to feed 9,000 persons and free ration given to 4,000 families.
