Pak SC takes suo moto notice of 600 children abducted in Punjab province

Lahore, Aug.4 : Pakistan's Supreme Court has reportedly taken a grim view of media-related reports that claim that close to 600 children have been victims of abduction in the country's Punjab province.

Acting Supreme Court Chief Justice, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, has reportedly taken suo moto notice of these media reports regarding the abduction of 600 children in Punjab, approximately 300 of them from Lahore alone, reports Samaa TV.

Mr. Justice Nisar last month ordered issuance of notice to the Inspector General of Police of Punjab to present details before the apex court's Lahore Registry on July 28.

"Such large scale abduction of children in a short span of time is a matter of immense concern and alarm," he was quoted, as saying.
