Peshawar thrash Quetta to clinch PSL title

New Delhi [India], Mar. 6 : Peshawar Zalmi thrashed Quetta Gladiators by 58 runs to win the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday late night.

Mohammad Asghar, the left-arm spinner, became star for the team as he took three wickets and conceded only 16 runs.

Chasing 149 for the victory, the Gladiators were bowled out for 90 in 16.3 overs. Earlier put to bat, Peshawars had a blistering start with top order Kamran Akmal scoring quick fire 40.

The team was able to post 148 for 6 in 20 overs, thanks to a late flourish from skipper Darren Sammy. Quetta, on the other hand, never looked to be in the hunt as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

The key wickets of Anamul Hoque (3), Mohammad Nawaz (0) and Sean Ervine (24) clearly dampened the team's competitive spirit.

Kamran Akmal was declared the Man of the Tournament as well as the best wicketkeeper of the tournament.

Sohail Khan was adjudged the best bowler of the tournament. The winners received 600,000 USD along with a crystal trophy while Peshawar got a cash prize of 200,000 USD.
