Punjab: Terror suspect arrested from Jalandhar

Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], Apr 21 : The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terror Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested a terror suspect from Punjab's Jalandhar.

The suspect identified as Mujamil alias Gazi Baba is a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Unnav and is accused of being involved in anti-national activities on the social media.

The 20-year-old man was arrested in a joint operation conducted by the UP ATS and the Jalandhar Police.

The man was living in Jalandhar for two-and-a-half years and used to work in the boutique here. The police presented the accused before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Jalandhar following which the court handed him over to the U.P.

ATS for a five-day transit remand. The police have initiated an investigation for further information in the case. Besides Jalandhar, the UP ATS also arrested two more suspects from Mumbai and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh in a joint operation with police teams of five states.

The joint operation was carried out by Special Cell Delhi Police, Intelligence Cell Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra ATS, Punjab Police, Bihar Police and UP ATS.
