Queen Elizabeth II will not attend Christmas Day church service due to heavy cold

London [United Kingdom], Dec. 25 : The Buckingham Palace has announced that the Queen Elizabeth II will not attend church service at St.

Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas Day as she is suffering from a heavy cold and will stay indoors to assist with recovery.

"Her Majesty will participate in the Royal Family Christmas celebrations during the day," CNN quoted a statement, as saying.

The Queen and her husband failed to arrive at London King's Cross to catch a morning train to King's Lynn for their traditional Christmas holiday.

This will be the first time that the Queen would miss the traditional Christmas Day service. The Queen has attended St. Mary Magdalene Church every Christmas morning since 1988..
