Rahul Gandhi’s RSS comment nothing but a ‘face-saver’: BJP

New Delhi (India), Aug 25 : Following Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's tweet stating that he will fight against the divisive agenda of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) on Thursday took strong exception to the statement, saying that former is indulging in verbal gymnastics to save the image of the party.

Speaking to ANI, BJP leader G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said that Rahul Gandhi, who has already lost his image in the country, is attempting a face saver.

"I think these gymnastics will not help Rahul Gandhi recover his image which already lies in tatters. He neither has knowledge of history nor is he truthful in his comment," he said. "They have realized that their lies will be finally nailed and he will end up being convicted in the case and therefore they did a complete summersault and a flip flop," he added.

Putting forth similar views, BJP leader Nalin Kohli stated that Rahul Gandhi is the only political personality who tends to state contradictory facts and make accusations without any foundation.

"This kind of confusion saying one thing in the court and saying another thing through social media, using Twitter, outside the court, I don't know how far it is appropriate," he said.

Another BJP leader Zafar Islam said that the Congress Party is known for its divisive policies and double standards and Rahul Gandhi's views endorses similar ideology.

"Congress party is known for double standard and in another demonstration of double standard Rahul Gandhi spoke something else in the Supreme Court yesterday and today he is singing a different song," he said.

Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi in his official Twitter handle stated, "I will never stop fighting the hateful and divisive agenda of the RSS.

I stand by every single word I said. Meanwhile, RSS ideologue M.G. Vaidya had advised the Congress vice president saying that if he apologises, then his 'stature will rise'.

Addressing a rally in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, in 2014, the Congress vice-president had alleged that the RSS members had assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on January.
