Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman on the need to see ‘real women’s experience’ in Hollywood

Washington D.C. [USA], Jan. 15 : Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, who star in the upcoming HBO series 'Big Little Lies', recently spoke at a press tour about why female-focused stories should now be a priority in Hollywood.

As reported by Vanity Fair, Witherspoon said, "I'm passionate because things have to change. We have to start seeing women as they really are in film. And not just in a movie theater with a tiny budget." "We need to see real women's experience whether it involves domestic violence, whether it involves sexual assault whether it involves motherhood or romance or infidelity or divorce," the 40-year-old actress quipped.

The limited series features a female-friendly cast that also includes Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz.

Kidman agreed saying that it was "rare" to find five roles in a piece that they would all "jump" to play.

The 'Legally Blonde' star said that watching performances from Kidman and the rest choked her up and let her emotions slightly overtake her, not just because they were so good, she explained, but because this opportunity is so rare.

'Big Little Lies' premieres on February 19..
