SG submits status report of Kashmir post Wani’s encounter

New Delhi, Aug 5 : Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar on Friday submitted the status report in the Supreme Court regarding the ground reality of Kashmir valley after encounter of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.

The report submitted by the Solicitor General says that government ensured essential services including medical, food during the unrest situation in the state.

In its report, the government also said there is sufficient availability of LPG, petrol, diesel in valley.

The apex court also asked National Panthers Party leader Bhim Singh, who had filed a petition for Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir, to file response over government's status report within 10 days.

The apex court had last week refused to order Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir, but asked Ranjit Kumar to file a status report on the ground level situation in the strife-torn state.

Bhim Singh had filed a petition seeking direction to the Governor to intervene under Section 92 of the Jammu and Kashmir constitution which meant a rule by the Governor.

At least 50 people have lost their lives in clashes that began with last month's shooting of 22-year-old terrorist Burhan Wani by security forces.
