Shoe thrown at Punjab Minister extremely shameful: Navjot Kaur

Chandigarh [India], Sept. 14 : Amritsar (East) MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu dubbed Congress MLA Tarlochan Soondh's act of hurling shoe at Punjab's Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia as extremely shameful and said that people should not abuse each other in the assembly.

"This is very shameful and will be remembered for a long time in history. One can talk verbally. A pure environment should be there in Vidhan Sabha where issues are raised. They can abuse each other in their respective assembly constituencies. They can do it outside the assembly," she said. Earlier today, Soondh hurled shoe at Majithia during a session of the state assembly. The protesting Congress MLAs had challenged Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for discussion on the problems in Punjab.

As many as 12 bills were passed in the assembly even as the chaos continued. Speaker Charanjit Atwal suspended Zero Hour and Question Hour following ruckus in the House. Atwal requested the protesting MLAs to go back to their seats and said that he wanted to run the House smoothly.

The assembly was adjourned for 15 minutes following the chaos..
