New Delhi [India], Nov 30 : The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday cornered the government for not giving obituary references to Nagrota bravehearts in Parliament and said this attitude of the ruling dispensation depicts that the surgical strike conducted across the Line of Control (LoC) earlier on September 29 was more of a political stunt.
Lambasting the Centre, said the Nagrota attack is a clear example of the government's cowardice, adding this in a way indicates that Pakistan's claim over the surgical strike appear to be coming true.
"The government is politicising the issue. First of all this has happened because of coward attitude of the government. What is the problem in giving obituary reference? Now I think that the surgical strike in real was a political strike and what Pakistan was saying that nothing happened now seems correct," said Agarwal.
The Congress vice-president earlier in the day led the opposition walkout over no obituary references being made in the Parliament for the seven Army personnel, who lost their lives in the terror attack on an Army base in Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir.
"It is the rule and tradition of the Parliament that when someone dies, we pay homage to them. But this is the first time that this has not happened, which is why the Congress along with the entire opposition has walked out from the house," he told the media here after emerging from the Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, both houses of the Parliament have been adjourned for the day as a united opposition continued to mount pressure on the government for the demonetisation of high-value currency notes and raised the issue of yesterday's terror attack in Nagrota.
