‘The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’ hits No. 1 on ‘Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks’

Washington D.C. [USA], Nov. 4 : The top trending track 'Closer' by 'The Chainsmokers' featuring Halsey finally topped the charts on Billboard and Twitter top tracks.

After 13 weeks of lingering in the top 10 of the Billboard plus Twitter Top Tracks chart, The Chainsmokers' 'Closer' hits No.

1 in its 14th week on the list, darting 8-1 to lead the chart dated November 12, reports Billboard. According to the article, the single is the second-slowest climb to No. 1 on the nearly two-and-a-half-year-old list, behind the 32-week rise of Little Mix's 'Secret Love Song' featuring Jason Derulo.

'Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks' is a weekly ranking of the most shared and/or mentioned songs on Twitter in the United States ranked by the volume of shares over a seven-day period.

'Closer's coronation on Top Tracks comes as the song spends its 11th consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. For the past 13 weeks, "Closer" bounced around the top 10, never going lower than No. 9. Despite its tremendous success on radio, streaming services and in download sales, the closest it got to No.

1 until this week was when it ranked at No. 2 for two frames both in September. In those weeks, it was blocked from the top by 'Side to Side' by Ariana Grande featuring Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga's 'Perfect Illusion'.

Reportedly, the collaboration's rise comes after its official music video was released October 24, and the clip has jumped to more than 26.5 million global views on YouTube through November 3.

It also helped the track to maintain its monopoly of the No. 1 rank of the 'Hot 100', claiming the summit for an 11th straight week, the most of any song in 2016.
