Three killed, ten injured in Shahdara inferno

New Delhi [India], Nov. 2 : At least three people were charred to death and ten others suffered injuries after a massive fire broke out in a building in Mohan Park area of Shahdara on Wednesday.

Around seven to eight people were rescued and admitted to the nearest hospital for immediate medical aid.

Fire department officials said that the fire has been doused. However, they were not in a position to confirm the exact number of casualties as some people were unconscious when rescued.

"There were e-rickshaws and bikes. Six fire tenders arrived on the spot. We have rescued eight to nine people. The condition of the people, who were rushed to the hospital, is yet to be confirmed. Two to three people have sustained burn injuries," Fire officer Vijay Bahadur said. According to reports, the blaze broke out when an e-rickshaw, parked in a parking lot caught fire. Short circuit took place when the e-rickshaw was being charged. Further details are awaited.
