Los Angeles [USA], June 7 : The first movie of Universal's newly launched 'Dark Universe,' 'The Mummy' is yet to hit the theatres and the studio giant is already planning to expand the universe with retro additions.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director/producer of 'The Mummy' Alex Kurtzman has listed the upcoming Dark Universe movies and there are a couple of surprise additions from the slate as originally announced.
While giving an interview with Fandom, Kurtzman said, "We know we're going to do 'Frankenstein,' 'Bride of Frankenstein,' 'Dracula,' 'Creature from the Black Lagoon,' 'Phantom of the Opera,' 'Hunchback of Notre Dame,' 'Invisible Man'." The director also named 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' as future projects in the line for the first time.
He also teased additional spinoffs featuring unnamed supporting characters from those stories. "There are characters within those films that can grow and expand and maybe even spin off. I think that digging into deep mythologies about monsters around the world is fair game for us, as well and connecting the monsters that we know to some surprising monsters could also be really interesting," added Kurtzman.
It should be noted that Alex Kurtzman's 'The Mummy' which stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Russell Crowe, is slated to hit the screens on June 9.
