Why is PM Modi bothered about us, asks Congress on ‘sinking ship’ analogy

New Delhi [India], Jan. 28 : Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress Party on Saturday said the former's statement that the grand old party is a 'sinking ship' reflects that he is desperate and is bothered by the party's progress which has been developing well under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

"It is shameful to see the Prime Minister stating about one of the prime opposition parties, it should be condemned.

Besides, why is he concerned about the Congress? If it is sinking then let it be. It seems that it is becoming painful for the Prime Minister to see the Congress flourishing under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

That is why he is saying such things," Congress leader P. L. Punia told ANI. Addressing a rally in Punjab's Jalandhar district, Prime Minister Modi yesterday said the Congress is a "thing of a past", like a 'sinking ship,' and said it changes like water to suit its political needs.

" In order to save itself, the Congress is resorting to 'give us anything at any cost'," Will the people of Punjab step into a ship which is on the verge of sinking?" he added.

Blatantly hitting out at the Congress, the Prime Minister said that the party allied with the Left in West Bengal for its survival and then taking advantage of the Samajwadi Party (SP) feud, allied with it as well in Uttar Pradesh.

"Congress, at first, badmouthed the SP in UP, but after seeing the conflict within the party, allied with them," he said.

Drawing an analogy, Prime Minister Modi said that the Congress was struggling for power in a similar way as a fish does without water.
