Windies’ Dowrich earns maiden ODI call-up post Sharjah heroics

Barbados [West Indies], Nov.4 : After the heroics in the last Test match against Pakistan, West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich has received a maiden call up in the ODI team for the upcoming tri-series in Zimbabwe which will be held later this month.

Fast bowler Miguel Cummins has also been drafted into the 15-man squad for the series, which also features Sri Lanka.

Dowrich and Cummins have been brought in at the expense of experienced batsman Marlon Samuels and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, ESPNcricinfo reported.

Dowrich, who played eight matches in the longest-format of the game, scored 47 and 60 not out during the two innings of West Indies' five-wicket win over Pakistan in the third and the final Test in Sharjah.

Cummins, on the other hand, played just one ODI, against Ireland in February 2014 before making a Test debut this year.

He has also played five List A games. Meanwhile, senior players namely wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin and all-rounder Kieron Pollard have also been left out of the tri-series, which is set to begin on November 14 in Harare.
