Deakin University, NLU to host conference on use of technology in courts

New Delhi, Dec.9 : Deakin University, Australia in association with the National Law University, Delhi is hosting the first of its kind conference aimed at bringing both Indian and Australian legal fraternities together.

The one-day conference will begin at 9 a.m. and be held at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, on Saturday, December 10, 2016. The event is supported by the Australian High Commission, New Delhi and the Indian Law Institute. The objective is to: enable knowledge-sharing between the Indian legal fraternity and their Australian counterparts; showcase innovations by Australian courts; discuss solutions for Indian legal system, based on Australian models; and address a key issue of liberalisation in the Indian legal profession.

The inaugural session in the morning will be addressed by former External Affairs Minister and lawyer Salman Khurshid, Chris Elstoft, Australia's Acting High Commissioner to India,Professor Sandeep Gopalan, Dean, Deakin Law School, Australia and Professor (Dr) Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor National Law University, Delhi.

Besides, the conference will be attended by several eminent representatives from the legal fraternity in India, including Suresh Chandra, Law Secretary, Government of India, and Dr Justice S.
